Information: There are a number of sea areas marked "Overfalls" on the Admiralty Charts. They are defined as "Strong tidal streams with eddies, races and heavy overfalls occur over the banks west of Tiree and the shoals between Tiree and MacKenzie's Rock. With opposing winds they are dangerous to small vessels" - Ad. Chart no. 1778.
