Information:The first post office was in Balemartine where Annabelle MacNeill lived. He was born in 1936 and he started posting when he was 12 when the post office was in Taigh Lachainn Mhic Neill (where Nan Tester is today). It then moved to Annie Kennedy’s across the road. Lachie MacNeill from Islay was the post man in Balinoe post office along with Alasdair MacArthur from Sandaig. Lachie’s sister, Julie Anna, a very efficient woman, was the post mistress. The post office moved to Annie Kennedy, behind him in Balinoe and then to Balemartine with Netty MacKinnon. Alasdair Sinclair, Balinoe, 2/2007. She ran the Post Office from this house. Her brother was Lachainn mhic Nèill, the postman, from Islay.
