An Cladach Arabach: When I was growing up at 4 Upper Square,Hynish, this is where we dug for lugworms and collected limpets for rock fishing, and from the end nearest to the Lower Square brought seaweed for spreading on the fields.
As to the meaning, Dwelly’s dictionary gives a word “arrabach” meaning “sorrowful”. Could there be a story behind the name ?

Would like to know how to pronounce Cladach,
Thanks!
Sorry to take so long to reply, Tom.
Cladach = KLA – DUCH, with the final -ch as in the Scottish ‘loch’. john
