Information:"A small thatched cottage the residence of the Police Constable of Tiree. Some time ago it was composed of three temporary cells to detain prisoners till there was an opportunity of forwarding these to Inveraray if the case required such treatment. These cells are now out of repair and criminals arrested are confined in the Temeperance Hotel, Scarinish, to await an opportunity of their departure to Inveraray" - ONB p183.

Below this entry, and crossed out - "A small building erected by voluntary contributions situated 1/2 mile west of Scarinish, it is erected as a Free Church school, but teaching in it is discontinued and the school is getting out of repair" - ONB p183.

There used to be a school in the building. Her uncle Alasdair climbed out of the window on his first day and never went back - GMcK.
